As a family medicine physician and member of the E2M fitness program, I have personally experienced its transformative power. When I joined in May 2020, I was 214 pounds at 5’11”, but through the program, I was able to reach my goal weight of 185 pounds. The program not only helped me achieve my own weight loss goals, but it also made it easier for me to help my patients improve their overall wellness by referring them to E2M, which provides a comprehensive approach to lifestyle modification that goes beyond the 15-20 minutes we have in an appointment. I love the simple, money-saving meal plan that led to a significant increase in my energy levels after the first week of detox and the workouts that can be done at home or at the gym with minimal equipment, fitting easily into a busy schedule. But the most valuable aspect of the program is the supportive, positive, and accountable community of E2M members in the Facebook group, which has helped me believe in humanity again and form intimate connections with others in the group. I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2018 at the age of 37 and struggled with chemotherapy-induced cardiomyopathy and the negative side effects of my medication, including early menopause, weight gain, and fatigue. In March 2021, my cousin introduced me to the E2M fitness program, and it has been a complete transformation for my life and health. My cardiac medications have been reduced to the lowest possible dose, and I have lost over 70 pounds, much to the surprise of my oncologist. I now have the energy to play with my goddaughters on the playground, and, as an internist, I am impressed by the effectiveness of the workouts and love reading about the successes of others with chronic illnesses who have been able to come off of their medications through the program. As a culinary medicine specialist, I appreciate the focus on nutrient-dense, whole foods in the meal plan, as a psychiatrist and health and well-being coach, I value the mental health coaching and motivational support provided by the coaches. As a palliative care specialist, I appreciate the holistic approach taken by E2M and the teamwork displayed by all members of the staff. I have recommended the E2M fitness program to my own family, patients, and oncology team, and I hope others can experience the same positive changes I have.
